Guest Book

I must have pouted for three weeks after returning from the paradise that was Caye Caulker. It was cold here, and snowy, we were at war, and the spotted eagle rays were scarce. Iguana Reef was a tremendous place to stay — peacef...

Are sea kayaks available on the island?

Here at the Inn we have Ocean Kayak sit-on-top sea kayaks available for rent. We have 2 double kayaks and 2 single kayaks. The kayaks are free of charge for our guests.

Which tours are available?

We don't actually operate tours out of the Inn but we work closely with local tour operators and guides for diving, snorkeling, fishing and we will also arrange inland trips to Mayan ruins, the Belize Zoo, etc.

  • For diving we recommend that you contact Belize Diving Services (email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ), located adjacent to our property. They operate a quality, full service dive shop that include local dives, outer atoll dives (e.g., the famous Blue Hole) and full certification and open water referral courses. Prices vary depending on the site so please contact the shop for pricing information.
  • For snorkeling you have a choice of full day trips to the Hol Chan Marine Park and Shark/Ray Alley or half day trips to the local reef near Caye Caulker. You can also choose between small power boats or sailboats. Or plan a full day trip to the Manatee Reserve and snorkeling at Goff's Caye. Plan on spending about $50.00 USD for the full day trips and $25.00 USD for the half day trips.
  • For fishing we can set you up with guides depending on your fishing skill level. You can troll and bottom fish inside the reef for barracuda, snapper, jacks etc. or outside the reef for larger fish like wahoo, kingfish and sailfish. If flyfishing or light spinning on the flats for bonefish, permit and tarpon is your preference we can arrange that as well. Plan on spending $200 USD for a half day of fishing and $300 USD for a full day.
  • There are also a number of mainland day trips available from Caye Caulker.

Three Mayan Ruin sites are easily accessible: Altun Ha, Xunantunich and Lamanai. Each ruin is quite different and we won't get into the differences here. Check our Mayan Ruins link under the Tours & Activities menu item for additional information. Plan on spending about $100 USD per person for a Mayan Ruin day trip.

The Belize Zoo is also a popular day trip (actually half day) from Caye Caulker. It is also included in the Xunantunich Mayan Ruin tour. Plan on spending about $45 USD per person for the standalone zoo trip and that includes the admission fee.

Cave tubing and/or zip lining is also a favorite inland day trip. You have the opportunity to explore ancient cave systems floating down an underground river system atop an innertube. The cost of the cave tubing day trip is about $75 USD per person.

Are there golf cart and/or bicycle rentals nearby?

There are a few places on the island where you can rent golf carts and bicycles. One of the rental agencies is located about a hundred yards from our property. Golf cart rentals cost about $20 BZ/hr, $125 BZ/day and $550 BZ/wk. Bicycle rentals cost about $4 BZ/hr, $15 BZ/day and $60 BZ/wk. These rates are estimates and vary slightly depending on the rental agency.

Are there safes in the room?

Each room is equipped with a small hotel safe that allows you to set your own access code. They can easily store most valuablel items ... documents, cash, jewelry, cameras and laptop computers. For your security we encourage you to use the safes.

Is there a restaurant at the Inn?

Our property does not have a restaurant, we have a bar open daily until 9:00PM. The complimentary continental breakfast is served at the bar from 7:00 until 10:00.  We do offer some food at the bar - chips & salsa, nachos and pizzas from Don Corleone restaurant.

Is there a beach area and swimming nearby?

There is a very nice, well-maintained beach right here at the Iguana Reef Inn. The beach features lounge chairs, umbrellas and easy access to the water. A great place to enjoy a drink and catch our magnificent sunsets. The swimming is typical for Caye Caulker - shallow waters out to about 300 feet, sand floor with some seagrass.

Are credit cards and travelers checks widely accepted?

Visa, Mastercard, travelers checks and US dollars are widely accepted. A number of businesses do add on a percentage (generally 5%) to use credit cards.  The Inn is not one of those businesses. The exchange rate is set at 2 BZ dollars to 1 US dollar. There is also an ATM at the local bank (Atlantic Bank) that dispenses Belize dollars. Plan on spending your Belize dollars before you leave the country because they are difficult to exchange outside of Belize.
